Dr Koh Lip Lin asked the Minister for the Environment whether and when a new reservoir will be built in Nee Soon.
Mr Lim Kim San: Sir, the PUB has plans to build a reservoir in Nee Soon by damming Sungei Seletar sometime in the early 1980s. This reservoir is estimated to have a storage capacity of 11.4 million cubic metres and the cost is estimated at $60 million.
Mr Hwang Soo Jin (Jalan Kayu): Sir, would the Minister please inform the House whether there is any survey carried out as to the number of families likely to be affected by the damming?
Mr Lim Kim San: Mr Speaker, Sir, before the Ministry carries out its plan, it will have to make a survey of the catchment area and the effect it will have on the population.
