Mr Ng Kah Ting asked the Minister for National Development when desilting works will be carried out to deepen the Serangoon River at Kangkar so as to enable the otter trawlers to anchor their boats at the Kangkar Fish Market.

Mr Lee Yock Suan (for the Minister for National Development): Mr Speaker, Sir, the dredging and desilting of Serangoon River is carried out by the Public Works Department (PWP) once every two years. The River was last dredged in 1980. It will be dredged and desilted again in June 1982, to be completed by September 1982.
