Encik Abbas Abu Amin asked the Minister for National Development whether there are plans to develop (i) the areas around Alexandra Terrace, Alexandra Lane, Pepys Road and Jalan Pasir Ria along Pasir Panjang Road; and (ii) Pulau Sakeng, in the Pasir Panjang Constituency.

Mr Lee Yock Suan (for the Minister for National Development): Mr Speaker, Sir, the Port of Singapore Authority has acquired the area around Alexandra Terrace/Alexandra Lane and will be developing the land for a warehousing complex. There are, however, no plans at present to acquire the lands to the west of Alexandra Terrace up to Jalan Pasir Ria for public development.

Pulau Sakeng is earmarked for industrial development by the jurong Town Corporation. However, there is no firm development programme for the island yet.
