HOUGANG NEW TOWN (Extension of boundary and recreational facilities)

Mr Ng Kah Ting asked the Minister for National Development whether the Housing and Development Board intends to extend the boundaries of Hougang New Town and what recreational facilities are planned for this Estate.

Mr Teh Cheang Wan: Mr Speaker, Sir, the HDB currently has no plans to extend the boundary of Hougang New Town. Major recreational facilities being planned for Hougang New Town include a swimming complex, a sports complex and a town garden. Work on the swimming complex is expected to begin in September 1984 for completion by end 1986. The sports complex and town garden will be developed at a later date.
