Encik Abbas Abu Amin asked the Minister of Defence and Second Minister for Health whether there is any plan to move the Singapore Armed Forces Camp in Dover Road to another location as this Camp is situated in the midst of a Housing and Development Board Estate.

The Minister of Defence and Second Minister for Health (Mr Goh Chok Tong): Mr Speaker, Sir, the Dover Road Camp has been in use by SAF long before the HDB estate nearby was built. Nevertheless, Mindef has already begun construction of a new camp in Ayer Rajah to house the SAF units presently sited in Dover Road. The new camp will be completed by 1986, whereupon the Dover Road Camp will be released by Mindef for public housing.
