STADIUMS/ATHLETIC CENTRES IN HDB ESTATES (Floodlighting)

Encik Abbas Abu Amin asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Community Development whether there are plans to floodlight some of the stadiums/athletic centres in Housing and Development Board estates.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Community Development (Mr Teo Chong Tee) (for the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Community Development): Mr Deputy Speaker, I am replying on behalf of my Minister.

The Singapore Sports Council currently manages nine sports complexes/stadia. Of these, three, namely, the National Stadium, Jalan Besar Stadium and Jurong Stadium have floodlighting facilities.

Another floodlit sports complex is currently under construction at the Hougang Housing Estate.

The Singapore Sports Council will consider floodlighting sports complexes at HDB estates should there be a need to do so.
