Dr Toh Chin Chye asked the Minister for National Development how many factories were returned to the Housing and Development Board for the year 1984 and for the period January-July 1985.

Mr Teh Cheang Wan: In 1984, 349 industrial premises were returned to the HDB. For the period January to July 1985, 424 industrial premises were returned. However, over the period January 1984 to July 1985, a total of 2,196 new industrial tenancies commenced. Thus, there was an increase of 1,423 industrial tenancies under management over the period.
