Mr Imram bin Mohamed asked the Minister for Communications whether there is a limit to the number of times by which the lifespan of a car can be extended on payment of the prevailing quota premium.
Mr Mah Bow Tan: There is no statutory lifespan imposed on private cars. Hence, owners can renew their cars' 10-year COEs upon expiry by paying the prevailing quota premium. No limit is imposed on the number of such renewals, provided the vehicles concerned meet ROV's roadworthiness standards and pass their annual inspections.
