Mr Cheo Chai Chen asked the Minister for Education when did Peirce Secondary School start its classes and how many students have been expelled since the school started.

Mr Lee Yock Suan: Peirce Secondary School started in January 1994.

In 1994, no pupil was expelled. In 1995, one pupil was expelled. He was a persistent offender who used violence on another pupil, and continued to misbehave with no sign of repentance. To date he has rejected the Ministry's efforts to counsel and assist him.
