MOTORCYCLE SHELTERED PARKING LOTS

Mr Cheo Chai Chen asked the Minister for National Development whether sheltered parking lots for motorcycles will be constructed in future and whether existing parking lots will be upgraded and covered with shelters.

Mr Lim Hng Kiang: I believe the MP is referring to parking lots in HDB housing estates.

HDB provides multi-storey car parks for cars and motorcycles in all its new housing estates. The motorcycle parking lots inside the multi-storey car parks are therefore sheltered.

There is no plan to build shelters for the motorcycle lots in the existing surface car parks. However, should multi-storey car parks be constructed to replace the surface car parks, then motorcycle lots can be provided under shelter.
