Mr Teo Chong Tee asked the Minister for Communications whether the Land Transport Authority will reconsider constructing a pedestrian overhead bridge near the new Changi Hospital and Changkat Primary School in Simei Street 3.
The Minister for Communications (Mr Mah Bow Tan): Mr Speaker, Sir, Changkat Primary School is about 60 metres away from the junction of Simei Street 3 and Simei Street 1. There are signalised pedestrian crossing facilities at the junction which students can use to cross Simei Street 3 safely.
The Land Transport Authority will be installing an additional set of traffic lights at the junction of Simei Street 3 and the access road to the new Changi Hospital. Signalised pedestrian crossing facilities will also be incorporated at this junction. In view of this, it is not necessary to build a pedestrian overhead bridge across Simei Street 3.
