Mr Chng Hee Kok asked the Minister for Law how many writs of summons were issued in 1997 and 1998 in relation to copyright and patent infringement.

Prof. S. Jayakumar: Based on the data from the Supreme Court's computer database, 11 writs were filed in 1997 and 48 writs were filed in 1998 for copyright infringement, whilst 1writ was filed in 1997 and 3 writs were filed in 1998 for patent infringement.
