Mr Lim Choon Mong asked the Minister for Labour and Welfare whether he is aware of the fact that the grant of $5 per person to the victims of the storm which demolished their houses on 9th April, 1955, is causing severe hardship; and whether he will consider the question of assisting the victims to rebuild their houses.

Mr Lim Yew Hock: I am surprised to learn that the payment of money is causing severe hardship, but if the Honourable Member intended to indicate that the amount was inadequate I shall investigate the position.
