Mr John Ede asked the Minister for Labour and Welfare if he will detail the Boys' Clubs situated in the constituency of Tanglin; how many Boys' Clubs are being organised within the constituency in 1955; and where they are to be sited.
Mr Lim Yew Hock: One Boys' Club affiliated to the Federation of Boys' Clubs is situated in the constituency of Tanglin. As far as is known one boys' club, the Bukit Timah Boys' Club, 4th mile Bukit Timah Road, is being organised now. It is not possible to forecast how many boys; clubs may be started in the constituency of Tanglin in 1955 as the readiness of the youth service to assist is only one of the factors to be taken into consideration. Other principal factors are the spontaneous desire and efforts of public-spirited members of the public. The siting of boys' clubs in particular is not a matter which is decided by this Ministry.
