Mr Speaker: I have to announce to Honourable Members that on the 29th day of October, 1956, I received a communication from the Hon. the Chief Secretary informing me that the Honourable Member for Bukit Timah (Mr Lim Ching Siong) has been detained by the Police under the provisions of section 17 (1) (b) of the Preservation of Public Security Ordinance (No. 25 of 1955).
