The Financial Secretary (Mr T. M. Hart): Mr Speaker, Sir, before I proceed with this motion which reads,
That this Assembly resolves that the sum of $1,457,350 shall be supplied to the Government under the heads of expenditure and for the services specified in the Schedule contained in Sessional Paper No. Cmd. 60 of 1956,
I would like to draw your attention to the fact that, in the motion, I ask for funds to implement a revision of the Cost of Living Allowance payable on pensions under the Personal Injuries (Civilians) Scheme, 1941. Under item No. 7 of the Order Paper, my friend and colleague, the Hon. the Chief Secretary is going to move a motion seeking legal sanction for the implementation of this revision of the Cost of Living Allowance. In these circumstances, Sir, as we appear to have the motions in the Order Paper rather out of order, perhaps you will allow my friend the Chief Secretary to take his motion first?
Mr Speaker: The relevant Standing Order is Standing Order, 9 (2) which reads:
"The Assembly may, upon a motion which may be made without notice and shall take precedence of all other business, decide to proceed to any particular business out of the regular order."
Can I have a motion?
Mr Hart: Sir, I beg to move,
That item 7 in the Order Paper be taken before item 6.
The Assistant Minister for Education (Inche Mohamed Sidik Bin Haji Abdul Hamid): I second the motion.
Question put, and agreed to.
Resolved,
That item 7 in the Order Paper be taken before item 6.
