Mr Lim Koon Teck asked the Minister for Local Government, Lands and Housing what portion of the 832 acres withdrawn from the Pandan Forest Reserve has been set aside for allocation to persons whose prawn ponds in areas required for development have been or will be acquired by Government.
Inche Abdul Hamid: The answer to the Member's question is that no portion of the area excised from the Pandan Forest Reserve has been set aside for such allocation, as the manner of allocation has not yet been decided. Due consideration will be given, however, to requests or applications from persons whose prawn ponds are affected by Government acquisitions.
Mr Lim Koon Teck: Sir, will the Hon. the Minister give an assurance that their claims would have prior consideration?
Inche Abdul Hamid: Mr Speaker, Sir, at this juncture, I cannot give such an undertaking.
