Introduction and First Reading

Mr Lim Koon Teck (Paya Lebar): Sir, I rise to move,

That leave be given to introduce a Bill to incorporate the Reverend Mother Superior of the Congregation of Good Shepherd Nuns in Malaya.

Sir, the Good Shepherd Nuns have been conducting their work of care for adolescents and young people in their Homes at Thomson Road in Singapore and at Ampang Road in Kuala Lumpur. Their good work has extended and they have acquired properties. They have also built more homes. At the present moment, all the properties which they have acquired are in the names of trustees and, as the list of properties increases, it is extremely inconvenient for the trustees to be called every time to sign title deeds.

It is therefore sought to incorporate the Reverend Mother Superior of the Congregation of Good Shepherd Nuns in Malaya, so that all the homes and properties of the Good Shepherd Nuns can be dealt by a corporation sole.

Sir, I beg to move.

Mr Soh Ghee Soon (Cairnhill): Sir, I second it.

Question put, and agreed to.

Resolved,

That leave be given to introduce a Bill to incorporate the Reverend Mother Superior of the Congregation of Good Shepherd Nuns in Malaya.

Mr Speaker: Who is prepared to introduce the Bill?

Mr Lim Koon Teck: I am, Sir. I beg to introduce a Bill intituled "An Ordinance to incorporate the Reverend Mother Superior of the Congregation of Good Shepherd Nuns in Malaya."

Bill read the First time.

Mr Speaker: Second Reading, what day?

Mr Lim Koon Teck: 10th September, 1958, Sir.
