Mrs Seow Peck Leng asked the Minister for Finance with reference to the Government's offer to pay scientific and professional allowances, to state which categories of civil servants will qualify as technical and professional officers eligible for such allowances, and what discussions have taken place with the Associations representing such officers; and whether he will make a statement in the matter.

Dr Goh Keng Swee: Mr Speaker, Sir, negotiations are in progress with the association representing doctors and dentists, and since this is the case, I do not wish to make any statement on the subject.
