Mr Ong Lian Teng (for Mr Chio Cheng Thun) asked the Minister for National Development when will the metalling of Lorong 19 Choa Chu Kang Road 13½ milestone, be started; and what steps will be taken by the Government in regard to the hawkers there whose livelihood may be affected when the work begins.

Mr Lim Kim San: Mr Speaker, Sir, the request for metalling Track 19 Choa Chu Kang Road 13½ milestone has been considered by the Urban and Rural Services Consultative Committee which has unanimously agreed that metalling of this track is unnecessary because it is in a fair condition and can be maintained by minor repairs from time to time. The hawkers' pitches along both sides of Track 19 at the junction of Choa Chu Kang Road will not be affected since the metalling of the track is not to be carried out.
