Mr Yeo Toon Chia asked the Minister for National Development and Communications, in view of the heavy volume of traffic along Upper Thomson Road and Lorong Chuan, whether there are plans to provide better lighting along (i) Upper Thomson Road from Kampong San Teng to Sembawang Hill Circus; and (ii) Lorong Chuan from Braddell Road to Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, and, if so, when they will be implemented.
Dr Tan Eng Liang (for the Minister for National Development and Communications): Mr Speaker, Sir, the street lights along Upper Thomson Road between Sembawang Hill Circus and Kampong San Teng have been proposed for upgrading in FY 78/79 as part of PWD's programme to improVe street lighting along all major arterial roads. Lorong Chuan is not classified as a major arterial road and is therefore not included in the present programme.
