Dr Lee Boon Yang (for the Minister for National Development): Mr Speaker, Sir, all the 5,000 dwelling units at Serangoon Central have been completed. As regards the development of Serangoon Town Centre in Serangoon Central, three contracts have been called so far. The facilities to be provided under these contracts include a bus interchange and commercial facilities such as a mini-supermarket and lock-up shops. They are scheduled for completion by the end of 1987. No hawker centre will be built in the Town Centre. Instead there will be family restaurants, a fast food centre and eating houses to serve the needs of residents and visitors.
