Encik Harun bin A. Ghani asked the Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs how many permanent Muslim Religious Teachers-cum-Counsellors are attached to drug rehabilitation centres and prisons, and when the required number of such Teachers-cum-Counsellors will be reached.
The Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs (Dr Ahmad Mattar): Mr Speaker, Sir, there are three posts of Muslim Religious Teachers-cum-Counsellors in Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS). Two of the posts have been filled. One Religious Teacher-cum-Counsellor is attached full-time at Selarang Park Centre and the other at Sembawang Centre.
MUIS has invited applications to fill the third vacant post but so far has not been able to recruit any suitable candidate. MUIS will shortly invite applications again to fill the vacancy.
