Mr Cheo Chai Chen asked the Minister for Law whether a Member of Parliament, who is a lawyer by profession, will be allowed to postpone a court hearing when it coincides with a Parliament sitting.
The Minister for Law (Prof. S. Jayakumar): Mr Speaker, Sir, whether the courts will grant an adjournment of the hearing of a case on the ground mentioned by the Member, or indeed on any other ground, is a matter which is entirely for the courts to decide.
