The Attorney-General (Mr C. H. Butterfield): Sir, I move, "That the Bill be now read a Second time."
Sir, this is a very short Bill consisting of two clauses and the amendment proposed to the Public Trustee Ordinance by this Bill is designed to remove the Financial Secretary and the Attorney-General from the Public Trustee Investment Board and to replace both those Ministers by the Deputy Financial Secretary and the Solicitor-General.
Sir, the functions of the Public Trustee Investment Board are to control and regulate the investment of the Common Fund which consists of capital monies in the hands of the Public Trustee and available for investment.
Sir, this amendment reflects the policy of the Government to replace Ministers on boards and other public bodies by others.
Sir, I beg to move.
Question put, and agreed to.
Bill accordingly read a Second time.
