Mr Lim Cher Kheng asked the Chief Minister whether he is aware of the concern among the public of Singapore over the restrictions proposed to be imposed on travellers between Singapore and the Federation of Malaya after 31st August, 1957; and whether he will make a statement on this matter.

The Chief Minister: Mr Speaker, Sir, I am aware of the concern and I have received an assurance from the Chief Minister of the Federation of Malaya that his Government will hold discussions with this Government in regard to the proposals before the Federation Government takes any step in the matter.
