Mr Lim Cher Kheng asked the Chief Secretary why the post of Special Grade midwife which has appeared in the Estimates yearly since 1949 has not as yet been substantively filled.

Mr Goode: This post has not been filled, Sir, because there has been no midwife at Kandang Kerbau Hospital with the qualifying experience required to fill the post.
