Mr Seah Peng Chuan asked the Minister for Health whether he is aware that complaints have been made by parents bringing their children to the General Hospital for treatment and admission, and by patients visiting the Maternity Hospital, that they are rudely treated by the staff of the Admission Room, the Dispensary and the Wards; and whether he will make a statement on the matter.

Mr Braga: Mr Speaker, Sir, the question refers to two hospitals, first, the General Hospital where it is alleged that complaints have been made by parents bringing their children for treatment and admission; the second, part of the question refers to Kandang Kerbau Hospital where it is alleged that complaints have been made by patients that they have been rudely treated by the staff of the admission room, the dispensary and the wards. As regards the first part of the question, I am not aware of any such complaints. Regarding the second part of the question, I am aware that such complaints have been made. I can assure the hon. Member that every complaint received by my Ministry is fully investigated and disciplinary action is taken in all proved cases.

Mr Lee Choon Eng (Queenstown): Mr Speaker, Sir, since the Minister is not aware of complaints at the General Hospital, will he take the trouble to investigate the allegations?

Mr Braga: Sir, the first part of the question was only in respect of persons bringing children, and I have received no complaints.
