Mr Speaker: Order. If the Chief Minister has a business motion, this is the time to move it.
The Chief Minister (Tun Lim Yew Hock): Mr Speaker, Sir, may I seek your assistance? The Assembly has this morning adopted a motion that at its rising today the Assembly do stand adjourned to 12th December. It is thought by Government that, as the motion of the Member for Tanjong Pagar is a very important motion and will require a full day's debate, perhaps we could continue tomorrow, but if you rule that we cannot, Sir, then I will have to move a motion for exemption of business.
Mr Speaker: The method which the Chief Minister could adopt is to move a motion that, notwithstanding the resolution of the Financial Secretary this morning, this Assembly do sit tomorrow. He must have the assent of Members.
The Chief Minister: Thank you, Sir. May I now seek, Sir, the assent of Members to move a resolution to enable the sitting to be continued tomorrow?
Mr Speaker: Is it the pleasure of hon. Members that the motion be moved?
Hon. Members: Yes.
The Chief Minister: Thank you, Sir. May I now move,
That notwithstanding the resolution adopted this morning, at its rising today this Assembly do stand adjourned till tomorrow.
Mr Chew Swee Kee: I second it.
Question put, and agreed to.
Resolved,
That notwithstanding the resolution adopted this morning, at its rising today this Assembly do stand adjourned till tomorrow.
