CARGOES HANDLED BY SINGAPORE HARBOUR BOARD (Total tonnages for first quarters of 1959 and 1960)

Dato Abdul Hamid Bin Haji Jumat asked the Prime Minister what were the total tonnages of cargoes handled by the Singapore Harbour Board during the first quarters of 1959 and 1960 respectively.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister (Mr Chan Sun Wing) (for the Prime Minister) (In Mandarin): Mr Speaker, Sir, I was asked by the Prime Minister to answer this question. The total tonnage of cargoes handled by the Singapore Harbour Board during the first quarter of 1960 was 1,391,741 tons as against 1,300,450 tons in the first quarter of 1959, amounting to an increase in 1960 over 1959 of more than 90,000 tons.
