Dato Abdul Hamid Bin Haji Jumat asked the Prime Minister whether agreement has been reached with the Johore Government with regard to water supplied to Singapore, and what was the total sum claimed by the Johore Government in respect of such supply from January, 1954, to March, 1960.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister (Mr Chan Sun Wing) (for the Prime Minister) (In Mandarin): No agreement has yet been reached between the Johore Government and the City Council in regard to the future rates payable either by the City Council forraw water supplied by Johore or by the Johore Government for treated water supplied by the City Council to Johore. Proposals have however been made by both parties, including the date from which the agreement should take effect, and the whole matter is under consideration.
