Mr Ng Yeow Chong asked the Minister for National Development and Communications whether a zebra crossing for pedestrians will be provided at the Old Airport Road near the Old Airport Road Emporium and Hawker Centre as the two existing pedestrian overhead bridges along that road are quite far apart from each other.

Dr Tan Eng Liang (for the Minister for National Development and Communications): Mr Deputy Speaker, Sir, the two existing pedestrian overhead bridges along that stretch of Old Airport Road are less than 400 metres apart. Therefore, there is no justification to provide another zebra crossing in between. Besides, a zebra crossing will adversely affect the heavy traffic flow along Old Airport Road.
