Mr Ng Kah Ting asked the Minister for National Development and Communications whether Punggol Estate will be extended; how many additional housing units will be built and when construction will commence.

Dr Tan Eng Liang (for the Minister for National Development and Communications): Mr Deputy Speaker, Sir, the present Punggol Estate with 3,091 units of flats will be extended to form part of the future New Town in Au Kang which will eventually have 12,000 units of flats. The expansion programme will commence in the latter part of this year.
