Mr Ng Kah Ting asked the Minister for National Development and Communications whether he is aware that farmways in the Lorong Buang Kok and Lorong Cheng Lim farming areas are not metalled and most of them are without street lights and when those farmways will be metalled and provided with street lights.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for National Development (Mr Ho Cheng Choon) (for the Minister for National Development and Communications): Mr Deputy Speaker, Sir, there are plans in the current financial year to metal some of the roads and to install necessary street lights at Lorong Buang Kok and Lorong Cheng Lim Farmways.

It has been estimated that the total cost of street lighting and metalling of 15 roads at these farmways would come to $770,000. As this is a substantial amount, the works will be carried out in stages, over a period of two to three years.
