HDB ESTATE AT 13 1/2 KM PUNGGOL ROAD (Request for shops)

Mr Ng Kah Ting asked the Minister for National Development and Communications if he will request the Housing and Development Board to include shops in the small estate at 13 1/2 km, Punggol Road, which is nearing completion.

Dr Tan Eng Liang (for the Minister for National Development and Communications): Mr Deputy Speaker, Sir, the small estate at the 13 1/2 km Punggol Road will initially have only 328 housing units. When it is expanded to its full development size by a further 222 units, consideration will then be given to providing shophouses and eating houses. Until such time, the needs of residents can be met by the existing shopping facilities at the 14 1/2 km Punggol Road.
