WAIVER OF DEVELOPMENT CHARGES

Mr S. Vasoo asked the Minister for National Development if he will consider waiving development charges on the building of institutional facilities by voluntary welfare organizations as the properties developed are for public and social purposes.

Mr Teh Cheang Wan: Non-profit-making and charitable organizations are currently eligible to apply for waiver of development charge for developments directly related to their activities. All voluntary and welfare organizations falling under this category may therefore apply for such waiver. Each case will be considered on its own merits.
