ADDITIONAL PARKING FACILITIES FOR HEAVY VEHICLES

Mr S. Vasoo asked the Minister for National Development if the Housing and Development Board will provide additional parking facilities for lorries and private buses in Ang Mo Kio New Town.

Mr Teh Cheang Wan: In Ang Mo Kio New Town, the HDB has provided a centralized lorry and bus park at Industrial Park 2 with 303 lots. Another 442 lorry/bus parking lots are also available at the neighbourhood centre carparks. Of these, only 12 lots at the centralized lorry and bus park and 259 lots at the neighbourhood centre carparks were taken up in April 1985.

Since the existing parking facilities are already more than sufficient to meet the demand, the HDB has no plan to provide additional parking facilities for lorries and private buses in the New Town.
