Dr S. Vasoo asked the Acting Minister for National Development whether the Housing and Development Board will sell its 3-room rental flats at Blocks 35 and 38, Telok Blangah Rise to the sitting tenants as soon as possible.

Mr Lim Hng Kiang: Mr Speaker, Sir, as announced by the President in his Address to this House, MND is currently examining a scheme to sell rental flats to sitting tenants. We hope to complete the study in two to three months' time. Details of the scheme will be released when it is finalised.

Dr S. Vasoo (Tanjong Pagar GRC): Sir, would the sitting tenants be given a reasonable discount? At the same time, are there also plans to sell two-room rental flats?

Mr Lim Hng Kiang: Under the scheme that we are examining, we are considering a scheme which will allow a discount from the market prices of the flats. We are also studying the feasibility of including some of the two-room flats into this scheme.
