Mr David Marshall asked the Prime Minister when it is proposed to hold a by-election for the Electoral Division of Sembawang.

The Prime Minister: Sir, as soon as the electoral registers which were recently put out for inspection have been settled and all claims for inclusion or deletions from the registers resolved - the Statistics Department estimates that this may take about two months - the by-election will he held soon thereafter.

Mr David Marshall: It is nine months after vacancy.

Mr Rajah: Yes. Maybe thereafter.
