Mr Tee Kim Leng asked the Minister for Health and Law whether and when will a maternity home and children's clinic be built in Tampines Road.
Mr K. M. Byrne: The State Development Plans do not provide for the construction of maternity homes. After the Prime Minister's recent tour of Tam-pines and as a result of a request ma-dc by the people in the area, the Government now plans to build a small maternal and child welfare centre at the 9 m.s. Tampines Road in 1964.
Mr A. P. Rajah (Farrer Park): Can the Minister indicate whether that will be in the first half or the second half of 1964?
Mr David Marshall: After the elections.
Mr Byrne: That will have to depend on the gods, Mr Speaker, Sir!
