Mr David Marshall asked the Prime Minister whether Government will consider sponsoring an appeal for monetary contributions from Singapore residents to assist victims of the volcanic disaster in Bali.

The Prime Minister: Sir, the Government has no objections to any monetary contributions from Singapore residents to assist the victims of the volcanic disaster in Bali. It is best, however, if such subscriptions were to be sponsored by private charitable organisations.
