Mr Ong Lian Teng asked the Minister for National Development how many families were affected adversely by the building of a Home for the Aged in Woodlands and how many of these families did not receive compensation from the Government.
Mr Lim Kim San: Mr Speaker, Sir, four families altogether are affected by the building of the proposed Home for the Aged in Woodlands. All of them will be paid compensation in accord ance with the schedule of approved rates. Assessments of compensation have just been completed and payment of compensation will be made in the near future.
Mr Ong Lian Teng (Bukit Panjang): (In Mandarin): I have a supplementary question. Of the four families affected, one has complained to me that there has been no compensation received. Can the Minister explain?
Mr Lim Kim San: Mr Speaker, Sir, I have just said that assessments of compensation are just being made. I believe the hon. Member has asked me whether I am aware that one of the families affected has not received compensation. None of them has received compensation. Assessments of compensation are being made, and when the time comes, they will be paid compensation.
