Mr P. Govindaswamy asked the Minister for Health whether the Government will build a market between the 4 m.s. and 7 m.s. Thomson. Road, and when.
Mr Yong Nyuk Lin: Mr Speaker, Sir, I regret again to inform the Member for Anson that Government has no intention of building a Government market between 4 m.s. and 7 m.s. Thomson Road for the foreseeable future.
It has been the policy of Government to build markets in areas where large-scale public housing is being undertaken. In accordance with this policy, 10 Government markets with 2,171 stalls have been built since 1961 in Housing and Development Board estates at a cost of $2.3 million.
