3

Mr Ho See Beng: To ask the Minister for Finance how many Government officers are at present on secondment or loan to Statutory Boards or other organisations.

Mr Speaker: Mr Ho See Beng.

Mr S. V. Lingam (Aljunied): Question No. 3, Mr Speaker, Sir.

Mr Ramaswamy (for the Minister for Finance): The number of Government officers at present on secondment or on loan to Statutory Boards and other organisations is 89.

Mr Lingam: Mr Speaker, Sir, among these officers who have been asked to go back to Government departments to work in their original posts, how many of them have been promoted or received higher salaries, and on what basis have they been given the promotion or increase of salary?

Mr Ramaswamy: Mr Speaker, Sir, I require notice of this question.

Mr Speaker: The fault was mine. I should have ruled the supplementary question out of order, because it does not come within the ambit of the original question.
