Order for Third Reading read.
6.00 p.m.
The Minister for Education (Mr Ong Pang Boon): Mr Speaker, Sir, I beg to move, "That the Bill be now read a Third time."
The Bill has already been considered by a Select Committee and the Committee's Report is before the House. All the amendments made in Committee are of a purely technical and typographical character. The substance of the original Bill has not been changed.
This Bill, which was tabled at the request of the Kongsi, has its full support. The passing of the Bill will enable the College to enjoy the status of a corporation with its constitution embodied in an Ordinance. The enactment of the Bill will confirm the establishment of Ngee Ann College as an institution with a legal identity. It will also assist in enlisting financial support for the College from foundations, institutions and philanthropists.
Mr Speaker, Sir, I beg to move.
Question put, and agreed to.
Bill accordingly read a Third time and passed.
