Mr S. Rajoo asked the Minister for Law and National Development if consideration will be given to the installation of street-lights along Northumberland Road and Gloucester Road so as to light up those areas around Farrer Park and to make it safer for the people living there against robbery.
Mr Ho Cheng Choon (for the Minister for Law and National Development): Mr Speaker, Sir, there are 12 standard street lamps in Northumberland Road and two standard street lamps in that section of Gloucester Road between Race Course Road and the Farrer Park athletic centre. That section of Gloucester Road between Dorset Road and the Farrer Park athletic centre, which is still a private road, is lighted by three kampong street lamps. Further, other roads, such as Hampshire Road and Dorset Road, around Farrer Park are also ade- quately provided with street lights. Adequate lighting has, therefore, already been provided around Farrer Park.
