HOUSING AND DEVELOPMENT BOARD (Building of flats at Upper Thomson Road)

Mr Ang Nam Piau asked the Minister for National Development and Communications whether the Housing and Development Board has plans to build flats near the market at 10 kms Upper Thomson Road.

Dr Tan Eng Liang (for the Minister for National Development and Communications): Sir, the market referred to by the Member for Thomson is the second shopping centre built by the HDB at 10 km Upper Thomson Road near Windsor Park Road. The centre was constructed for the purpose of resettling the shop-houses along Upper Thomson Road which were affected by a road widening scheme. The Board bas no plan to build flats near this market.
