Mr Ho Kah Leong asked the Minister for National Development and Communications whether arrangements will be made for the Housing and Urban Development Company to build middle - income flats in Jurong.

Dr Tan Eng Liang (for the Minister for National Development and Communications): Mr Speaker, Sir, as the Jurong Town Corporation has already built 424 executive flats in Jurong. there is no immediate need for HUDC to consider building more middle-income flats here.

For the present, HUDC is giving priority consideration to middle-income housing developments not farther than seven miles from the City centre.
