Mr Ang Nam Piau asked the Minister for Social Affairs whether the Government has plans to build a swimming pool in the Thomson Constituency and where.

The Senior Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Social Affairs (Mr Chan Chee Seng) (for the Minister for Social Affairs): Sir, there is no plan to build a swimming pool in the Thomson Constituency by the Singapore Sports Council. However, it is reported that the HDB will be building two swimming complexes in the Ang Mo Kio Estate scheduled for completion within the period 1979 to 1980. One of these complexes lies at the southern border of Ang Mo Kio Estate and is adjacent to Sin Ming Housing Estate which is in the Thomson Constituency. This complex should serve the needs of Thomson Constituency.
