Mr Teo Chong Tee asked the Minister for National Development (a) whether facilities at the Changi Point Jetty will be expanded to relieve the present congestion and to cope with the increasing sea traffic plying between Changi Point and the nearby offshore islands, like Pulau Ubin and Pulau Tekong Besar, and Pengarang in south-eastern Johore; and (b) whether further dredging work will be carried out to deepen the sea at the Jetty so as to enable boats to have better access to the Jetty at low tide.

Mr Teh Cheang Wan: Sir, the Changi Point Jetty was reconstructed and the jetty deck extended as recently as 1978. The Ministry, therefore, has no plans to expand further the facilities at the Changi Point Jetty. Dredging work, however, will be carried out to deepen the navigational channels within Changi Creek. Work will start in September and will be completed by November 1979.
